Buying a Traxxas TRX-4 as-is, which is a used or damaged vehicle that comes without a factory warranty, can be a cost-effective way to get into RC hobby or to obtain specific parts for your current RC vehicle. Here are some pros and cons to consider before making a purchase:
Pros:1. Cost-effective: As-is vehicles are typically sold at a discounted price compared to their brand-new counterparts. This can be an excellent option for those looking to save money.
2. Opportunity to learn: Working on an as-is vehicle can provide an opportunity to learn various repair and maintenance techniques. This can be beneficial for those looking to improve their mechanical skills.
3. Availability of specific parts: If you're in need of a specific part for your existing Traxxas vehicle, purchasing an as-is TRX-4 might be a cost-effective way to obtain that part.
4. Potential for customization: As-is vehicles may come with various modifications or upgrades already installed, providing an opportunity to customize your RC vehicle to your preferences.
Cons:1. Risk of hidden damage: Since as-is vehicles come without a factory warranty, it's essential to thoroughly inspect the vehicle before making a purchase to ensure there are no hidden damages.
2. Time-consuming: Repairing an as-is vehicle can be time-consuming, especially if you're not experienced in RC vehicle repairs.
3. Potential for compatibility issues: If you're planning to use parts from an as-is TRX-4 on your existing Traxxas vehicle, ensure those parts are compatible with your current setup.
4. Lack of technical support: Since as-is vehicles are not covered under a factory warranty, you won't have access to Traxxas' technical support if you encounter any issues.
Conclusion:In conclusion, purchasing an as-is Traxxas TRX-4 can be a cost-effective way to get into the RC hobby, obtain specific parts, or learn repair and maintenance techniques. However, it comes with risks, such as the potential for hidden damages and compatibility issues. It's crucial to thoroughly inspect the vehicle and determine if the potential benefits outweigh the risks before making a purchase.
Recommendation:If you're considering buying an as-is Traxxas TRX-4, I would recommend researching the specific vehicle you're interested in, thoroughly inspecting it before making a purchase, and being prepared for the potential time and effort required to repair and customize it. Additionally, consider purchasing from a reputable dealer or seller to minimize the risk of hidden damages.
It includes a winch and the controller for neither of which have been tested. It has a spectrum brush less motor ESC combo and factory Traxxas TQI electronics installed. Lots of good parts here should be a fun project. Tires and wheels look good.
It was not paired to the transmitter that came with it and end of our testing. It is being sold as knowing that it will need some tinkering before its ready to go. Also noticed some nice brass diff covers front and rear. We turned it on powered up.
Tires are good and the body is decent looking definitely usable. This one came in with a large lot of RC Inspection underneath shows that the rear locker is not hooked up. I can tell that the steering servo is locked up.
This is a project.
